Julian Ely, CCA Board Secretary and Outreach Director

CCA Board Secretary and Outreach Director Julian Ely has attended Calvary Chapel Artesia (formerly Cerritos) since mid-1996. He grew up in Cerritos and only left for college in Irvine, Bordeaux and Tokyo.

It was in July 1996, that Julian accepted God’s offer of forgiveness in Jesus Christ. He had been constructing his own spiritual way and had had no intention of becoming Christian, but the merciful, living God used all kinds of people to bring him to a point of desiring God’s love. Since then, he has learned steadily from Pastors Dave Gonzales - now with the Lord - Bob De Leon, and Richard Cross, as well as many others and teachers on K-WVE. He is grateful for their labor in studying the Bible and for the countless prayers of his Christian family.

Back in about 1997, the church’s guitarist asked Julian to help display the song lyrics on the screen during church; ever since, he has been serving in various ministries - worship team, kids church, short missions, local outreach. In addition to adventures and wonders, his journey has included the pitfalls brought on by thoroughly test driving his doubts more than trusting God’s word; but by God’s grace, he again called on the Lord in 2022. He loves Psalm 66:20 (KJV): “Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor His mercy from me.”
