Bob DeLeon, Senior Pastor and
Marnee DeLeon, Director of Women's Ministry
Senior Pastor Bob De Leon has been attending Calvary Chapel Artesia (formerly Cerritos) since March of 1998. He is married to his wife Marnee and they have two adult children, Jessica and Joseph.
He was initially ordained as an Associate Pastor by Senior Pastor Dave Gonzales in July of 2001 and then his Assistant in June of 2007. Pastor Bob faithfully served at his side for 15 years.
He stepped in as the interim-Senior Pastor in May of 2016 after Pastor Dave fell ill and then was appointed Senior Pastor in October of that same year after Pastor Dave went home to be with the Lord.
Pastor Bob accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in March of 1986 after viewing Pastor Raul Ries’ personal story of salvation, “Fury to Freedom”. Shortly thereafter, he started attending Calvary Chapel Downey.
After a season away from the Lord, Pastor Bob rededicated his life to Christ in March of 1997 (at Pastor Raul’s church), attended Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa for a year, and then became a member of Calvary Chapel Cerritos in March of 1998, where he has been attending ever since.
Pastor Bob has always had a passion for teaching the Word and was given numerous opportunities to teach through several books of the Bible. He has also taught outside of the U.S. during various Mission trips to include Mexico, Russia, and the Cross to Light Bible Training Center in Port au Prince, Haiti.
Pastor Bob is the primary teacher on Sunday mornings and oversees the Worship, Children’s and Missions ministries.
Richard Cross, Assistant Pastor
Richard became a Christian 1981 after hearing the Gospel presented to him by his best friend as a teenager. He and his wife, Stephanie, have been married since 1989 and have been attending Calvary Chapel of Artesia (formerly Calvary Chapel of Cerritos) since 1998.
He began serving as an Elder of Calvary Chapel of Artesia in 2007, and was ordained as Assistant Pastor by Senior Pastor Bob De Leon in January 2017.
The heart of his ministry is teaching and exhorting people in the Word of God, praying for those who need healing, and tending to the pastoral needs of the flock.
He is the primary teacher of the mid-week Bible study and oversees the men’s discipleship ministry.
Stephanie Cross, Director of Children's Ministry
Stephanie accepted the Lord as her Savior when she was in junior high school. She and her husband, Richard, have been married since 1989 and have been attending Calvary Chapel of Artesia (formerly Calvary Chapel of Cerritos) since 1998.
Her passion, as inspired by Ezra 7:10, is to study God’s word, obey it and teach it to others.
Stephanie was an educator for many years, having previously worked as both an elementary school teacher and a junior high school counselor.
She currently serves as Director of the Children’s Ministry of Calvary Chapel of Artesia under the direction of Senior Pastor Bob De Leon.
Neil and Mercedez Pacis, Worship Leaders
Neither Neil nor Mercedez would have ever imagined that the Lord would use them for leading God's people into worshipping Him in song. Together, they have been worship leaders at Calvary Chapel Artesia (formerly Cerritos) since the middle of 2013, but have been serving in the worship ministry since 2006. Prior to the fall of 2002 though, both have never heard of the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
It was during that year, a few years after Mercedez' parents had given their lives to the Lord, that God grabbed a hold of her heart through the lyrics of a certain worship song her dad would repeatedly play in the house. By way of other divine appointments and the beginning of seeking God through the scriptures, her eyes were opened to the truths in the Bible and she accepted Jesus as her Savior.
Roughly two weeks later, it was suggested by Mercedez' mother (now Neil's mother-in-law) that the two of them sit down to watch a certain Christian movie, popular during that time. Of course, with the movie's main message being the fact that belief in Jesus is the one and only true way to eternal life, it was later that evening that Neil surrendered and received Jesus into his heart. The date was September 15, 2002.
As they began their new walk with Christ, they became students of the Word together. The Lord led them to be united in marriage and they tied the knot in September of 2006.
In addition to serving in worship together, another ministry in which they are heavily involved is missions. They have either led teams or have been involved with ministering to people in countries such as Russia, Sri Lanka, Haiti, and Mexico.
One of their favorite pastimes is sharing good food with friends or family.
Ray Arevalo, Elder
Elder Ramon Arevalo has been attending Calvary Chapel Cerritos since 1998.
He is married to Margie Arevalo for 29 years. He and Margie have two adult children Christian and Brittany.
He was appointed as Elder in 2002. Elder Ramon met Pastor Dave Gonzales while serving in Calvary Chapel North Long Beach. When the Pastor of CCNLB announced that the assistant Pastor Dave had received a full time position as the Senior Pastor of CCA, Ramon decided to follow him to his new church.
Elder Ramon accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 1984 at Calvary Chapel Long Beach on Artesia and Long Beach Blvd. His road to the Calvary movement started when his brother Joseph, who was a recent convert explained to Ramon, who at the time was a Jehovah Witness, the basicness of the scriptures. He read to him a verse that forever changed his life, Revelation 1:8 and he followed that with verses 17 and 18. When Elder Ramon read a verse he had read countless times, however, it was never as clear as the day that his brother read it to him. He, Jesus, was the Alpha and Omega in verse 8, yet in verse 18 Jesus said "I am the living one, I died, but look I am alive for ever and ever" To finally believe that Jesus who says He is the Alpha and Omega, yet died and rose again, was the evidence he needed to make a full decision to follow Jesus. This simple verses in scripture had turned him from being lost to finding his way to eternal life.
Elder Ramon teaches at a convalescent home, LB Rescue Mission and fills in on Wednesday nights when the assistant pastor is unavailable.
He has worked with many churches on mission trips in the Baja Peninsula as well as in Mexico City and surrounding area. Elder Ramon oversees the maintenance and security of CCA under the direction of Senior Pastor Bob Deleon.
